PATIENT: Bailey MacKay
HISTORY: asymptomatic murmur, systolic, left apex, g3
There is acquired degenerative mitral valve disease here with no cardiac remodelling and therefore no indication for treatment; however the velocity of the mitral regurgitant jet indicates systemic hypertension and measurement of systolic blood pressure is recommended.
Comments: cardiac chambers, valves and outflow tracts appear normal with the exception of the mitral valve which is thickened and irregular at their tips; and systolic function is good. heart rate is approximately 80bpm, sinus rhythm
