Sophie – Vet

Sophie

Sophie is a vet who has lived and worked in the Northeast for most of her life, and who has developed a special interest and obtained further veterinary qualifications in minimally invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and techniques, such as ultrasound and endoscopy. She spends her working time travelling throughout the Northeast providing a mobile ultrasound and endoscopy service to small animal veterinary practices in the area.

Sophie qualified as a vet in 1998 from the R(D)SVS, Edinburgh, and returned to the Northeast to work in general and local referral practice for 7 years. During this time she studied for her RCVS Certificate in Small Animal Medicine, which she successfully completed in 2004.

In 2005, having developed a particular interest and expertise in minimally invasive diagnostic and therapeutic techniques, she decided to set up a mobile ultrasound service for local practices; this proved very popular, and Sophie has been working as a full-time small animal ultrasonographer ever since.

She obtained the International Veterinary Ultrasound Society Certificate in Small Animal Ultrasound in 2009, and in 2010 the European School of Veterinary Postgraduate Studies General Practitioner Certificate in Cardiology.

The mobile service was expanded in 2012 to include endoscopy procedures.

Sophie’s special interest in minimally invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures is continually developing, and includes particularly interventional techniques and contrast-enhanced ultrasound.
