Sophie is a vet who has lived and worked in the Northeast for most of her life, and who has developed a special interest and obtained further veterinary qualifications in minimally invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and techniques, such as ultrasound and endoscopy. She spends her working time travelling throughout the Northeast providing a mobile ultrasound and endoscopy service to small animal veterinary practices in the area.

Sophie qualified as a vet in 1998 from the R(D)SVS, Edinburgh, and returned to the Northeast to work in general and local referral practice for 7 years. During this time she studied for her RCVS Certificate in Small Animal Medicine, which she successfully completed in 2004. In 2005, having developed a particular interest and expertise in minimally invasive diagnostic and therapeutic techniques, she decided to set up a mobile ultrasound service for local practices; this proved very popular, and Sophie has been working as a full-time small animal ultrasonographer ever since. She obtained the International Veterinary Ultrasound Society Certificate in Small Animal Ultrasound in 2009, and in 2010 the European School of Veterinary Postgraduate Studies General Practitioner Certificate in Cardiology. The mobile service was expanded in 2012 to include endoscopy procedures.

Sophie’s special interest in minimally invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures is continually developing, and includes particularly interventional techniques and contrast-enhanced ultrasound.

ABOUT PAUL (Manager)

Paul with his pet motorbike on tour in Poland

Paul has had a long career as a risk management surveyor with a large insurance company and has also worked in civil service. He has excellent management and administrative skills (unlike Sophie) and undertakes all the day-to-day administrative duties of the business. Any queries regarding invoicing, website queries, or for replacement images or reports, should be directed to Paul. Whilst Sophie is performing procedures and is often unavailable, Paul is usually readily contactable and can also advise on Sophie’s availability and can make appointments. Paul is also responsible for the transport, cleaning and maintenance of endoscopy equipment, and can immediately bring the endoscopy equipment on-site if an endoscopy procedure is indicated by an ultrasound examination.
