About NVi

NVi is a mobile service run by Sophie Betts (Vet) and Paul Reay (Manager), for small animal veterinary practices in North East England. It provides advanced ultrasound imaging, endoscopy, and associated minimally invasive diagnostic and therapeutic techniques. The service was established in 2005 and provides the following services:

  • Advanced abdominal ultrasound
  • Ultrasound-guided FNA / biopsy / drainage (prostatic, renal, mediastinal, lung etc; coagulation profiling with immediate results to enable biopsy if indicated)
  • Sonographic portosystemic shunt evaluation
  • Ultrasound of the neck (parathyroids etc)
  • Pre-operative localisation of retained testicles, ovarian remnants
  • Echocardiography
  • Echolaryngography
  • Endoscopy – upper and lower gastrointestinal, respiratory, and cystoscopy with associated interventional techniques (biopsy, polyp removal, feeding tube placement etc)
  • In-house ultrasound and endoscopy training and CPD for small animal vets

Regular clinics are held at Orchard House Vets, Hexham on Monday morning; Blythman & Partners, Gosforth every second Monday afternoon; Westway Vets, Newcastle on Tuesdays and alternate Thursdays; Vets4Pets Sunderland on alternate Wednesdays; Dunelm vets, Durham every fourth Monday afternoon; Simply Cats, Fencehouses every fourth Wednesday; and Capontree Vets, Brampton every sixth Wednesday.  Mobile appointments are also available Mondays to Thursdays within Newcastle, Durham, Sunderland and Northumberland.
